Each year Bicester Festival includes a parade through the town center, featuring artworks and costumes made by professional artists, community groups and local schools. In 2021, the parade will take place on Sunday 26th September, followed by live music in Market Square.
This year, you can take part too, and there’s a prize for the winning entry!
The parade will be led by entries from Festive Road, a professional street arts organisation who specialise in creating moving, pedal-powered artworks. They’ll be working with local schools and community groups to create some larger parade entries on our theme of ‘Sea Change’, and you’ll be able to see them touring the town throughout the day.
We’ll be joined by exciting local groups including Mini Professionals dancers and Bicester ECU Cheerleaders who’ll be taking part, plus musical accompaniment from sea-shanty performers, the Old Time Sailors, who’ll join us on the parade and perform in the town center throughout the day.
If you’d like to take part, all you need to do is to create your own costume or entry on our theme, and come down to join us on the day. For safety reasons, we’ll ask you to let us know you’re coming if you are attending in a large group or bringing a larger entry. We’ll meet on OYAP Trust at 11am, and the parade will take us on safely closed roads into the town center for everyone to see.
